Santi Cazorla finishes a fairy-tale story after he scores for Spain for the first time since 2015 while playing against Malta in Euro qualifiers.
Santi Cazorla completed his dream comeback after he scored for Spain for the first time since 2015. The Spanish midfielder went through 11 operations in as many months, needed a skin graft that moved a tattoo to his heel and was lucky to avoid a foot amputation.
At that time doctors even said that Cazorla was lucky to even walk again. Two years later, the Spaniard has started playing top-flight football and currently is playing for Villarreal in Spain.
Even though injuries marred his peak years but the player is still at his level best and is showing that he is still the special player, which led fans across all the Premier League clubs to admire him.
His continued performances have eventually led to a call up from Spain’s national team, and last night the 34-year-old made his second appearance for La Roja post-injury call up against Malta and scored to make his side qualify for the Euro 2020.
After Malta produced a poor goal-kick, Spain launched a counter-attack through Jesus Navas and the ball eventually found Cazorla who in typically ambidextrous fashion – found the bottom corner.

Cazorla has been phenomenal with Villarreal while scoring seven goals during his comeback season and has gone from strength to strength this campaign, even scoring a worldie against Barcelona.
This road to recovery has been lauded massively among the football fraternity with people getting inspired by Cazorla’s struggles and historic comeback. Whereas, Spain thrashed Malta by a scoreline of 7-0.
