Real Madrid Transfer News: Florentino Perez annoyed by player’s demand to join Atletico Madrid

Real Madrid Transfer News: Florentino Perez annoyed by player’s demand to join Atletico Madrid in the ongoing summer transfer season.

Real Madrid have bought in a host of reinforcements this summer. While these means that the club is bolstered in several departments, it also means that the club has a lot of deadwood lying around.

Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez is aware that the club will have to sell its players to balance the book and make way for newer stars. One such player who is on his way out of Santiago Bernabeu is Colombian star James Rodriguez.

Rodriguez spent two seasons on loan in Germany with Bayern Munich. The German giants turned down the option to buy the Colombia international. With the Colombian not in Zidane’s plans this season, Madrid are looking for suitors for the midfielder.

Napoli are the front runners at the moment. However, reports suggest that Atletico are also considering their candidacy for James Rodriguez. Reinforced with the 120 million euros, they received from Antoine Griezmann’s transfer, Atletico have the desire and money to bring in the midfielder.

Rodriguez wants to stay in Madrid

Spanish publication El Confidencial claim the Colombian would prefer a move to the Wanda Metropolitano over a switch to Serie A.  Rodriguez wants to stay in Madrid. He has a house in the Spanish capital and wants to play under Diego Simeone at Atletico, who still remain an ambitious side.

Perez wants to sell Rodriguez to Napoli instead of their City rivals, Atletico. However, the 72-year old may not have that many options available to him if Rodriguez sets his mind on Atletico. As much as it will annoy to see a former Los Blancos star feature for Atletico Madrid; Perez understands the need to raise funds for Zidane and off load players that are surplus to requirements. To that end, the president will accept any offer as long as it meets the 45 million euros in cash price he has set for the Colombian.
