Marc Andre Ter Stegen’s performance against Atletico Madrid might have marked him as the best goalkeeper in the world.

Barcelona had a tough game against Atletico Madrid last night. For the majority of the game, it felt as if Los Rojniblancos will come out as the winners, but it was the German wall which stopped Diego Simeone’s side.

If Marc Andre Ter Stegen had not been there then Barcelona would probably have lost the game, as Atletico Madrid was very close to scoring on two occasions.

Joao Felix whipped in a delicious ball from the left-hand side, which was met at close range by Mario Hermoso. But Ter-Stegen managed to pull off a quite ridiculous save to deny his opponent.

Later in the 41st minute, Kieran Trippier’s corner was met by the head of Alvaro Morata, who must have thought he scored. But Ter-Stegen got down low to make another terrific save.

On the other side, Barcelona’s attack was strictly tied by Atletico Madrid’s defence and it only took Messi’s last-minute brilliance to prevent Barcelona going down in the table.

Thus, showing that the German goalkeeper is worthy of being called as the best goalkeeper in the world. Ter Stegen has been phenomenal for Barcelona since a while now and is mostly regarded in the category of elite keepers in contemporary time.

Although, Ter Stegen despite being one of the best goalkeepers in the world still plays as a deputy to Manuel Neuer, who plays a leader figure in the struggling German side.

Amidst all of this, Ter Stegen also got adequate support from Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet. Unfortunately, Pique had to leave the pitch in between as he hurt himself after crashing with Vitolo during the game. Samuel Umtiti replaced the Spaniard for rest of the time.
