Cesc Fabregas names Liverpool player the best in the Premier League but it’s not Salah or Van Dijk
Cesc Fabregas names Liverpool player the best in the Premier League but it’s not Salah or Van Dijk and only cost the Reds a bargain £30m.
Liverpool have been sensational for the last two years. While one would argue that their revival began with the signing of Mohamed Salah and their journey to the top was made complete after bringing in Virgil Van Dijk, former Arsenal and Chelsea player Cesc Fabregas believes that neither of them are the best player in the Premier League right now.

Instead. Fabregas believes that the distinction goes to their teammate Sadio Mane instead. The free flowing forward joined the Reds in a £30 million deal from Southampton in 2016. While he took some time to settle, he has since become an indispensable member of the side.

The Senegal international has had a phenomenal year or two that has seen him play back to Champions League finals and win one of them while also going on to reach the Africa Cup of Nations Final with Senegal last year.
With Liverpool, he completed the International Treble last month and could very well go on to win the Premier League as well later this year. With 74 goals to his name while playing from a wide position, it is easy to see why Fabregas has called him the best in the English league.
In fact, Ballon D’Or holder, Lionel Messi, is also quite fond of the Senegalese. While explaining why he voted for him to be the 2019 Best FIFA Men’s Player (Mané finished fifth), Messi said:
“Mane achieved a great year that was exceptional for the entire Liverpool team. That’s why I chose him”.
