Sachin Tendulkar to coach Ponting XI in Bushfire relief match

Sachin Tendulkar to coach Ponting XI: The legendary cricketer will be seen in a new job description next month in Australia.

The bushfire relief match between Ponting XI and Warne XI will be played on the same day as the final match of the ongoing ninth season of the Big Bash League.

Slated to play at the same venue as a build-up to the final, the match will also feature illustrious names such as Adam Gilchrist, Justin Langer, Brett Lee, Michael Clarke, Shane Watson and Alex Blackwell will also take part in the match to be played for a noble cause.

While Ricky Ponting and Shane Warne will lead the two sides, former captain Steve Waugh and former women’s player Mel Jones will be involved in a non-playing capacity.

Sachin Tendulkar to coach Ponting XI

It is worth mentioning that Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar will also feature in the bushfire relief match. The announcement was made by Cricket Australia in the morning stating that Tendulkar will coach the Ponting XI in the tournament.

Former West Indies fast bowler Courtney Walsh has also been roped in as a coach for the Warne XI. “We are absolutely honoured to be welcoming Sachin and Courtney back to Australia where they both enjoyed a lot of success as players, and we can’t wait to have them involved in what is going to be a special day.

“Both in the ICC Hall of Fame, Sachin is the greatest run-scorer of all time in international cricket, and we all remember what Courtney could do with the ball, taking more than 500 Test wickets. “We’re looking forward to our people at CA and the entire Australian cricket family coming together for the Big Appeal,” Cricket Australia Chief Executive Officer Kevin Roberts said in a statement.

All profits from the charity match will be contributed towards the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund.
