WATCH: Fans breach security to enter ground and meet Virat Kohli in Wellington T20I
Fans breach security to enter ground: The Indian fans intruded the ground to meet the Indian captain at the Westpac Stadium.
During the fourth T20I of the ongoing India’s tour of New Zealand in Wellington, Indian fans intruded the ground to meet their captain Virat Kohli. The sight was followed by security officials interfering at the right time to force the intruders outside the ground.
It all happened during the second over of the hosts’ innings being bowled by India fast bowler Navdeep Saini. Just when the security officials managed to catch one of the fans, they had another job up their sleeve in the same over as another fan breached security from a different part of the Westpac Stadium.
It is worth mentioning that an Indian fan had breached security to enter the ground to meet legendary India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni during the third T20I of India’s tour of New Zealand in Hamilton last year.

Despite the presence of security personnel in cricket stadiums, such incidents happen quite often in the sport. While one understands fans’ admiration for their stars, breaching the security is no way to meet a player for it can have consequences for both the player and the intruder.
As far Kohli is concerned, the 31-year old player has scored 105 runs in four T20Is at an average of 26.25 and a strike rate of 131.25. More importantly, Kohli has led India to four consecutive victories in as many T20Is and will be striving to register a maiden whitewash in New Zealand by winning the fifth T20I in Mount Maunganui tomorrow.
