Josh Hazlewood reveals which Indian batsman he would like to Mankad ahead India’s tour of Australia at the end of this year.

India will travel to Australia at the end of this year. However, it appears that Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood has already began preparing for the series. He was seen joking about mankading a particular Indian batsman at the annual Australian cricket award.

In cricket, Mankading is a mode of dismissal wherein a non-striker can be dismissed if he is found outside of his crease before the ball has been delivered. It is named after former Indian cricketer Vinoo Mankad, who was the first to affect such a dismissal.

During the awards ceremony, several Australian players, both male and female were asked what their opinion on the mode of dismissal was. Most of the players were rather accepting of it. However, Josh Hazlewood went one step ahead and named the player he wanted to use it on.

It should come as no surprise that Josh Hazlewood wants to Mankad Cheteshwar Pujara. The Gujarat batsman proved to be a thorn in their sides the last time India travelled down under. He finished the 4-match Test series as the leading run scorer.

Pujara accumulated 521 runs from 7 innings and averaged an astonishing 74.42. The number three faced 1,258 balls in the series hitting 3 tons and a half-century. One of Pujara’s ton was a marathon innings; which came in the 3rd Test at Melbourne where he scored 106 off 391 balls in a of 481 minutes.
