Virat Kohli wastes review: The Indian captain’s decision of opting for a review didn’t work in his favour at the Hagley Oval.

During the first day of the second Test of the ongoing India’s tour of New Zealand in Christchurch, India captain Virat Kohli continued his below par form in the series by registering a single-digit score.

Apart from his dismissal, what was all the more disappointing was Kohli opting for a review when there were paltry chances of his survival.

It all happened on the first delivery of the 25th over when New Zealand seamer Tim Southee found Kohli wanting in front of the stumps. Having stuck on the pads after playing a loose defensive shot, Kohli put on display desperation to review the decision.

Once it was clear that there was no bat involved during the replays, Kohli walking back to the pavilion was confirmed. Coming in to bat at No. 4 in the 20th over, Kohli ended up scoring 3 (15).

It is worth mentioning that earlier opening batsman Mayank Agarwal (7) also ended up wasting a review after he was out in a similar manner against New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult in the sixth over.

It was New Zealand captain Kane Williamson won the toss and chose to field in the morning. The hosts playing an all-pace attack has seen dismissing four Indian batsmen at the time of writing this article.
