The eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League is  all set to take place in a couple of months time, as India’s annual cricket carnival will once again come to our television sets.

The IPL auction is all set to take place in less than a week’s time, as all eight franchises will battle it out for some of the biggest players in the world.

Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals will be returning to the fold, as the former champions will come back to much gusto from the fans.

The tournament was supposed to kick off on April 5th, as the reigning champions Mumbai Indians would host the returning Chennai Super Kings.

But things have suddenly changed, as the first match will now be held from April 7th and will go on till May 27th.

Also, the timings for the matches will also change as the afternoon matches will now take place from 5:30 pm while the evening matches will start from 7 pm.

This sudden change will see the matches overlap each other, as fans will now have to choose which match they want to watch. Star have also promised to add new channels, which will make it convenient for the fans.

This is what IPL chairman, Rajeev Shukla had to say,

“The Broadcasters requested for a change in timings and IPL governing council in principal has accepted it,” IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla said.

“IPL 11 to begin on 6th April 2018 with opening ceremony in Mumbai and first match on 7th April in Mumbai, the final on 27th May will also be in Mumbai,” said Rajeev Shukla, Commissioner of the IPL, confirming the dates of the event.

“Live broadcast of 8pm game will be shifted to 7pm, while 4pm will be played at 5:30pm,” he added.

There are a few doubts over the home grounds of Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals, the franchises are not sure about playing in front of home fans.

While Rajasthan Royals are still awaiting to hear from the Rajasthan High Court, KXIP will be play only four matches at Mohali with the other three at Indore.
