New Indian selection committee: Who has replaced MSK Prasad and Gagan Khoda as selectors of Indian cricket team?
New Indian selection committee: The Cricket Advisory Committee has eventually announced the names of two additions in the selection committee.
The CAC (Cricket Advisory Committee) has finally announced two new additions to the Indian selection committee. The two former Indian cricketers have replaced Chairman of Selectors MSK Prasad and Gagan Khoda.
It is worth mentioning that the CAC comprises of former cricketers in Madan Lal, RP Singh and Sulakshana Naik.
The reason why only two changes have been made to the five-man committee is that the other three selectors’ tenure will end after six months. Prasad and Khoda, whose stint was scheduled to end in last November, were on extensions till now.
New Indian selection committee
Former India spinner Sunil Joshi and former pacer Harvinder Singh have been named as the new selectors in the Indian selection committee. Joshi, 49, who has played 15 Test matches and 69 ODIs will replace Prasad as the Chairman of Selectors.
Singh, who has played three Tests and 16 ODIs, had last played domestic cricket for Railways in 2008.
Apart from Joshi and Singh, former players such as Laxman Sivaramakrishnan, Venkatesh Prasad and Rajesh Chauhan were shortlisted by the BCCI to fill the void set to be created by Prasad and Khoda’s exit.
Apart from these high-profile names, other prominent names who didn’t get shortlisted were Ajit Agarkar, Nayan Mongia and Chetan Sharma.
BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee recommends Sunil Joshi and Harvinder Singh as senior team selectors. They join Dewang Gandhi, Jatin Paranjpe and Sarandeep Singh whose term finishes later this year. Joshi has been recommended as chairman of the committee.
