La Liga aims to restart games in June as clubs return to training this week
La Liga aims to restart games in June as the clubs will start their training this week, as the spread of Coronavirus has slowed down.
The players from the top 2 tier teams will train individually after an agreement with Spain’s sports and health authorities that guaranteed the safety of both players and staff.
Before that, all the players will have to go through a test to mark themselves negative of the virus. Therefore, with this plan, authorities are planning to return football in Spain by June.
The country’s top division has created detailed protocols for the return to training so proper health safeguards are observed. Part of this involves training sessions progressing from individual to small groups and then team training.
“These measures cover a period of approximately four weeks with different phases that, in any case, will be subject to the de-escalation process established by the government,” a La Liga statement read.
“Together with the medical tests carried out by clubs, a staggering return to training has been implemented that will start with players training alone and with group activities prior to the return to competition, scheduled for June.”
As of now, there are 11 rounds are left in the league and Spain is one of the top leagues to not end the season. In March, once the cases of COVID-19 spiked, all sporting activities including football was suspended.
Spain is the second most affected nation with Coronavirus after the United States of America. At the moment, Barcelona is at the top of the table with Real Madrid two points away from their arch-rivals.

Now, it is remained to be seen whether La Liga will set a positive precedent for the rest of Europe or will it turn out to be a disaster? As of now, Spain is reporting 1000+ cases every day.
