Mick Schumacher to Alfa Romeo: Ferrari boss, Binotto, confirms if Schumacher will be in F1 next season
Mick Schumacher to Alfa Romeo could turn out to be a possibility next season, but Ferrari boss, Binotto, has ruled out a move for him.
Michael Schumacher’s son Mick is expected to follow the footsteps of his legendary father. It seems a matter of when, and not if, he makes it to Formula One, the most premium of motor sports.
A member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, he currently plies his trade in Formula Two. He performed well to take podium at the Hungarian Grand Prix. If Mick continues to impress, he should make it to F1 next season.

But Ferrari Boss is of the view that it is too early to take a call on that. He, acknowledged, however, that Mick is doing well in F1, and improving consistently.
“I think Mick is performing well, better than last year.”
“It is important that in his second season in Formula 2 he demonstrates progress, and he did well in Hungary.

Alfa Romeo is Ferrari’s sister team, and the latter is also the engine supplier to Alfa Romeo. After Alfa Romeo’s Team Boss felt Mick needs time, Binotto seconded his opinion.
Mick has been in the mix for an F1 drive for over two years now, but he hasn’t really set the stage on fire yet. Thus, F1 team bosses feel the young Schumacher still needs time to settle into motorsport and only then get drafted into F1.
“As I said, Mick is progressing and that is important, but it’s too early to make any decisions regarding the next season.”

His main competitor for a F1 seat is a fellow Ferrari Driver Academy member. Russian 20-year-old Robert Shwartzman is taking F2 by storm, winning the feature race. He currently heads the championship, and if he wins, could have a stronger claim than Mick to get into F1 next season.
