Goran Ivanisevic says that the Agassi-Djokovic partnership will not last long

The Novak-Agassi partnership seems to be the most high profile one on tour right now. And while the results of this partnership are yet to be seen through a crystal clear lens, people have already passed their judgement on whether this would just be a fling or if it would turn out into a long romantic relationship. Agassi and Novak both have emphasised on the fact that they are just testing waters as of now, and will take a final decision after Roland Garros. Goran Ivanisevic is the latest to pass his judgement over this seemingly ‘perfect’ partnership.

Goran Ivanisevic in a podcast with the Eurosport said that he doesn’t see Djokovic and Agassi having a long term coach-player relationship. He feels like Agassi has ‘too much’ on his plate to commit to Djokovic.

“It’s great to see Andre on the tour but I don’t think it’s going to last,” Ivanisevic told The Tennis Podcast. “I don’t think Andre wants to be a coach. I love Andre, he’s one of my favourite tennis players, but he has too many things going on to be a coach to somebody like Novak Djokovic. You need to be a coach for 20-25 weeks, and I don’t think he has three weeks free in the whole calendar year to be a coach to someone.

“Of course he can make a difference. Even seeing him is nice, so imagine if he is in your player box. You can’t play bad with him there. But I don’t see Andre being a coach with how busy his life is. I see Steffi Graf being a coach more than Andre.”

Djokovic seems to be pulling all the right strings as of now, and is in great awe of Agassi. Agassi too feels comfortable coaching Novak, and this wonderful bubble seems to be growing bigger. But will it burst? Let’s find out.
