Duncan Robinson impressive shooting night shows he can win the series for Miami Heat

Miami Heat forward Duncan Robinson came up big today, scoring a game-high 24 points. The 6’7″ player had one of the best shooting regular seasons in NBA history.

Duncan Robinson went undrafted in the 2018 NBA Draft despite being one of the leading shooters in college basketball. The forward, who transfered from D3 college Williams to the Michigan Spartans program, was tipped to be a late draftee.

Robinson’s major strength has always been his shooting, and his outing today against the Pacers was conclusive proof. He barely put the ball down on the floor in one of the best pure-shooting playoff performances in history.

Duncan Robinson shot a scorching 7-of-8 from the field, with all of his attempts coming from 3-point range. He was also fouled on a 3-point attempt, converting all 3 of those free throws.

Robinson’s outing to sink the Pacers could not have been more typical of him. Always loath to put the ball on the floor except on shooting fakes to relocate, over 80% of his shot attempts have been 3-pointers this season.

Robinson had one of the most barnstorming shooting seasons in league history. He finished with 270 made 3-pointers in 73 games this season, good for an average of 3.7 per game. This figure he achieved while shooting an amazing 44.6% from range on 8.3 attempts per game.

The Indiana Pacers have so far been unable to cope with Miami’s model of motion offense. The team’s willingness to find the open man by making the extra pass has led to the sniper being extra effective in the 2 games thus played. The Pacers will have to find a way to keep Robinson quiet in the remainder of the series.
