Russell Westbrook and Steven Adams engage in ‘trash talk’ during Rockets vs Thunder Game 4
Former teammates Russell Westbrook and Steven Adams exchanged some chitchat with each other ahead of tip-off for Game 4 of the Rockets-Thunder series.
Russell Westbrook and Steven Adams, who were best of pals for 6 years with the Oklahoma City Thunder, had some of the best camaraderie between teammates in the NBA. The duo were the most prolific pick-and-roll combination on the court too, with over half of Westbrook’s assists going to the big man from New Zealand in his final few years.
The bond linking Steven Adams to the Rockets organization goes even deeper than this. The Rockets traded for James Harden by offering Kevin Martin, Jeremy Lamb and an assortment of picks. One of those picks was used by the OKC Thunder to draft Steven Adams with the 12th pick of the 2013 NBA Draft.

Russell Westbrook, who’s currently recovering from a quad contusion, is acting as the Houston Rockets’ hype man from the bench. But he could not help tracing his roots with Adams, whom he greets before every game of the series. This time was no different.

The two seemed to be throwing challenges of sorts at each other. Jim Jackson, sitting in the TNT commentary booth for the game, remarked the same. This clip seems to be a bit of playful banter between the pick-and-roll duo.
Russell Westbrook is expected to play at some point in this series, which has been in the Rockets’ favour thus far. The two teams went into the locker room at halftime in Game 4 tied at 60 apiece. Both teams shot better than 50% from the field in the first half of Game 4.
