Jimmy Butler’s friend and Former NFL Player Jordan Leslie laments Russell Westbrook’s woeful play in Game 2
Former NFL player Jordan Leslie, whose family took in a homeless Jimmy Butler in school, lamented Russell Westbrook’s subpar Game 2 on Twitter yesterday.
Born in Tomball, Texas, the same place as Butler, Leslie befriended him after the duo played together on their high school basketball team. Leslie later went on to pursue pro football. The 6’1″ wide right has had a tumultuous career in the sport, going undrafted in 2015 and signing with numerous NFL teams for short stints.
Jordan Leslie expresses his frustration with Russell Westbrook’s play
Russell Westbrook has not been his dominant self since coming back from a quad contusion. The Brody has played 5 games in the playoffs this season, in which he’s shooting a beggarly 39.1% from the field, 16.7% on 3-pointers and 46.7% from the free throw line. Westbrook’s subpar play also extends to the defensive side. He was in foul trouble yesterday.

Russel Westbrook is my favorite player, but damn he makes it tough on me some nights 🤦🏽♂️

The Houston Rockets will need Westbrook to be at his best to stand a decent chance of advancing to the Conference Finals. He needs to pick up his act soon. Leslie, a Texas resident, believes as much, and he vented his frustration with Westbrook’s play on Twitter. The Lakers won Game 2 of the series 117-109 despite the Houston Rockets comprehensively beating them from the 3-point line.
The Rockets were able to score only 17 points in the 4th quarter, missing on 10 of their 12 3-point attempts in the period. Westbrook was intentionally left wide open by the Lakers and he kept bricking from the 3-point line. Instead of changing tack and shooting midrange shots or attacking the paint, Westbrook kept bailing the defense out.
