FIFA has some brilliant news for India regarding the U-17 World Cup
India is gearing up to host its first ever FIFA World tournament, as the U-17 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to happen in October this year. The 23-day event is set to help India find its feet in the global Football circuit.
FIFA has been constantly monitoring the various stadiums around India, to ensure that things are going according to plan before the start of the World Cup. FIFA needs to ensure that the Indian Football Stadiums meet international standards and wouldn’t cause any discomfort to players.
A FIFA official yesterday expressed his happiness over how things were turning up at the JLN stadium in Kochi. He also gave a thumbs up to the training grounds around the stadium.
Kochi had given the FIFA officials a big scare in March when it seemed as if the stadium wouldn’t be ready before the cut off date. But the Tournament Director of the Local Organising Committee, Javier Ceppi has said that things have picked up pace and things look perfect.
“With one hundred days to go, things seem to be under control and the renovations are going as planned,” Javier Ceppi said.
“We hope to have a full stadium in Kochi,” he added.
Fans have already started responding to the FIFA U-17 World Cup, buying their tickets well in advance, and hence giving FIFA the confidence that they could be expecting well packed stadiums.
The Kochi stadium has a capacity of about 60000, but only 41,748 seats will be for sale as FIFA needs to ensure the safety and security of spectators.
