Nabil Fekir to Real Madrid: The playmaker has been one of the key players for the French club.

Real Madrid lifted their third successive Club World Cup title last week, as they defeated UAE’s Al Ain in the final. The Spanish side defeated them 4-1, becoming the most successful club in the history of the tournament with four titles.

Real Madrid have had a struggling start to the season, and the club had to part ways with Julen Lopetegui in October, who was appointed at the beginning of the season.

Under Santiago Solari, however, their campaign returned to track as Real Madrid climbed up to top four before leaving for the Club World Cup.

In the transfer market, meanwhile, Real Madrid have reportedly received a major boost as it has been claimed that Olympique Lyon have offered Nabil Fekir to the Spanish outfit.

The midfielder was heavily linked with Liverpool at the beginning of the season, but his move to Anfield in the final week of the English transfer window.

The playmaker’s contract at the French club expires in 2020, and Spanish outlet Marca has now reported that they have offered the player to Real Madrid.

According to the report, Lyon’s president Jean Michel-Aulas is ‘becoming nervous’ at his decreasing value, which has led to triggering the club to offer the player to Real.

Nabil Fekir played a crucial role for Lyon in the 2017/18 campaign, scoring 23 goals. He was also a key member of France’s squad which lifted the World Cup in Russia this summer.

His impressive performances for both club and country was central to significant attraction from European giants like Real Madrid and Barcelona, as well as last year’s Champions League finalists Liverpool.

In this season, Fekir has scored 6 goals and has four assists to his name in 16 appearances for the side. The playmaker also guided the club to the round of 16 of the Champions League, where Lyon faces Barcelona.

What next?

Real Madrid will return to action in the La Liga on January 3, as they take on Villareal.
