“The love affair is over”- Sebastian Vettel comments on his relation with Ferrari and retirement plan
“The love affair is over”- Sebastian Vettel comments on his relations with Ferrari’s management, moreover sheds light on his retirement.
Sebastian Vettel had his own struggles in Formula 1 this season, but most of the criticism because of it has been received by Ferrari’s management over the German driver’s predicaments.
And Vettel has admitted that the relations between the team and him have turned sour with his commitment with the Italian team ended before the start of the season.
“This year’s season was very difficult, and I admit that I even had doubts about my own abilities,” said Vettel to Zeit as per the Autosport. “I haven’t gotten anywhere this season and relations with the team are not the easiest either. The love affair is over but I am still motivated.”
Vettel has further revealed that his next motivation comes from the new project assigned to him with Aston Martin, where he will be paired with Lance Stroll.
“I am still expecting a lot from the remaining races but I think the new project with Aston Martin opens up a lot of possibilities,” said Vettel. “We will not be able to achieve success quickly, but I’m sure it will be a completely different mood and a new goal—to help the team progress.”
Retirement is far
The 4-time World Champion further spoke about his retirement plans from Formula 1 and has revealed that he still has some time in the sport, but he won’t stick around for long.
“I’m 33 now, I’ll be on the track for another three years, and I really don’t want to be racing at 40, So if you really assess it then I have from three to seven years left in Formula 1.”
Vettel with Aston Martin is surely an exciting prospect, with the re-branded Racing Point eager to give Vettel the anchor role, just like Sergio Perez, whilst Stroll develops into the system.
