‘I f*** with Russ’: Damian Lillard denies any bad blood between himself and Russell Westbrook

Trail Blazers All-Star Damian Lillard reaffirmed the positive nature of his bond with Russell Westbrook over a tweet.

Russell Westbrook and Damian Lillard are both amongst the top Point-Guards in the league. They both have been known to be alphas. Two alphas can never peacefully co-exist on the court, and we saw the same happen in the 2019 playoffs. The Thunder met with the Blazers in the first round of the 2019 Playoffs.

There were sparks flying on the court, especially between Russ and Dame. Both the alphas were set out on proving that they were the better of the two, and Dame had the final say, as his dagger sealed the series victory for the Blazers. This did not end here, as the confrontation continued when the Rockets met the Blazers in a regular-season game in January 2020.

The two of them have been at each other any team they were seen on opposing sides of the court. If what Dame Dolla said is to be taken as the truth, the entire thing can be chalked up to Alphas being competitive.

What does the future hold for Russell Westbrook?

Ever since the 9x All-Star demanded a trade out of Houston, there has been a plethora of speculation about his future. There were rumors about New York trading for him, but they have been dimmed ever since the Knicks said trading for him is not a priority. There are very few teams that can afford the hefty price tag that Russ comes with.

It would be interesting to see how things turn out for him. There has also been news from the Rockets camp that they are under no pressure to make a trade. One thing is for sure. Wherever Russ ends up, the intensity of his battle with Damian Lillard on the court would not go down.
