Sergio Perez to Red Bull: Cries for Mexican to be signed grows louder after Alex Albon crashes in Bahrain FP2
Sergio Perez to Red Bull: Alex Albon crashed during FP2 ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix, strengthening Sergio Perez’s claim for a seat.
Just when it felt like Alex Albon will continue with Red Bull beyond 2020, he did the unthinkable (or thinkable?). The Thai driver lost control of his RB16 in the final corner 14 during free practice 2. This after he found himself in the dust, the acceleration causing his car to crash heavily against the wall barriers. The cause of it was his understeering, also causing a red flag in the process.
Albon: “I’m OK.”
Engineer: “OK mate. That is a red flag. Everyone should come in slowly.”
Albon: “Sorry guys.”
Engineer: “OK can you just sit in the car for a little bit.”
A caray, ahora sí @alex_albon tus acciones a la baja, ahí embarrados en el muro. Vamos @SChecoPerez que tus acciones le están saliendo alas. #checogivesyouwings pic.twitter.com/7Ri5S14oCO

Sergio Perez to Red Bull? Alex Albon focused on himself
Actions Speak Louder Than Words – This is something Alex Albon either doesn’t believe in or is not following it. He put on a brave face ahead of this weekend, with calls for #checogivesyouwings growing louder. Albon has three races to prove himself, starting with this weekend’s Bahrain GP, something he acknowledged.
“At the end of the day, there are still three races to show what I’ve got. I want to have a good few races ahead of me. The focus is these three races, there’s not really any other thought to it. Most people have a plan B, but my plan is plan A, that’s staying in the team. I’m focused on that, that’s my goal. As I said, I’m focusing on these races.”
