“I couldn’t have expected that”- Nico Hulkenberg on Red Bull links if he hadn’t made appearances for Racing Point in 2020
“I couldn’t have expected that”- Nico Hulkenberg on links with Red Bull had been unbelievable if he hadn’t made guest appearances this season.
Red Bull’s second spot in the hands of Alex Albon can be taken away by the management anytime. As of now, his replacements are speculated to be Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg.
Though the latter thought, it would have been bit surprising if there had been his links with Red Bull if he hadn’t made guest appearances for Racing Point, once in the absence of Perez and other in Lance Stroll’s absence.
“My missions were very short and very concentrated, but I like crazy challenges,” Grandpx.news quotes him as having told Sport1. “I’m grateful that I got the chance because otherwise my name would certainly have been said a lot less than it is now.”
“No, I couldn’t have expected that,” he conceded. “So I’m all the more grateful that it went the way it did to get to this moment.”
Hot for Red Bulls seat
Hulkenberg with decade long experience in Formula 1 has a record of most starts with a podium finish, but his desire can be completed if he joins Red Bull, and maybe that is reinforcing his wish to join the Austrian team.
“To get another opportunity like this in the autumn of my career – I’m extremely hot for it,” he said. “And more generally I also feel how much I miss the competition.”
He also talked about teaming up with Red Bull’s current number 1- Max Verstappen, and he thinks he could form a great alliance with him if he is granted the seat.
“Verstappen?” Hulkenberg joked of his good friend. “I think I’ve heard of him. Seriously, I get along very well with him but at the moment I am not getting carried away with such thoughts.
“If it doesn’t work out then I’ll keep looking. I have nothing specific but there are various enquiries from other racing series.”
