Virat Kohli dismissal: Indian captain left astonished after getting out to Mitchell Swepson in Canberra T20I
Virat Kohli dismissal: The Indian captain became victim of a soft dismissal against a rookie spinner at the Manuka Oval.
During the first T20I of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia in Canberra, Australia spinner Mitchell Mitchell Swepson picked his maiden wicket in Australia in the form of India captain Virat Kohli.
It all happened on the fourth delivery of the seventh over when Kohli’s attempt to pull a short delivery from Swepson saw him giving a simple catch back to the bowler.
In a delivery which gripped significantly after pitching, Kohli ended up lobbing the ball back to Swepson to left astonished after becoming a victim of a soft dismissal. Coming in to bat at No. 3 in the third over, Kohli departed after scoring 9 (9) with the help of one four.
Swepson, who had made his T20I debut against England in Birmingham in 2018, was included as a last-minute replacement for injured all-rounder Ashton Agar to play only his second international match.
With India losing Sanju Samson and (23) and Manish Pandey (2) in quick succession, they would want wicket-keeper batsman Lokesh Rahul and all-rounder Hardik Pandya to provide a solid finish in the death overs.
Earlier, it was Australia captain Aaron Finch who had won the toss and opted to field. Impressed by his ODI debut in Canberra, India have handed a T20I debut to T. Natarajan at the same venue.

That’s something that has to be avoided. Soft dismissal that. Getting out to Swepson, Moises. 🙁
India keep pushing themselves back the moment they should start accelerating
