R Ashwin bowling in cap: The veteran Indian spinner was seen bowling while wearing a cap at the Drummoyne Oval in Sydney.

During the first warm-up match of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia between India A and Australia A, India A spinner Ravichandran Ashwin put on display a rare sight of himself bowling while wearing a cap that too in a three-day match.

Ashwin, who had earlier dismissed Marcus Harris (35), allured eyeballs for finding Australia A batsman Nic Maddinson (23) in front of the wickets whilst donning a cap.

It all happened on the last delivery of the 30th over when Maddinson’s attempt of sweeping Ashwin proved costly for himself and Australia A who were restricted to 98/5.

It was a 104-run partnership for the fifth wicket between all-rounder Cameron Green and wicket-keeper batsman Tim Paine which brought back the hosts into the match.

While Ashwin and pacer Mohammed Siraj picked a couple of wickets for India A, Umesh Yadav has been the pick of them as of now with bowling figures of 15-3-38-3.

After India A captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and elected to bat yesterday, the visitors had declared on 247/9 after Rahane top-scored with 117 (242) including 18 fours and a six. Other than Rahane, batsman Cheteshwar Pujara had also contributed with a half-century.
