“He has the unconditional support within the team”- Mercedes promises unending support to Valtteri Bottas
“He has the unconditional support within the team”- Mercedes promises undying support to Valtteri Bottas amidst rumours of his exit.
With George Russell showing that he can outclass Valtteri Bottas in a Mercedes car, the threat over his exit by the end of 2021 is looming constantly.
However, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff now have come into defending their driver and said that they will support him for the foreseeable future, and has no plans to replace him.
“He’s a hard, resilient guy,” Wolff said as per the Autosport. “Losing a title is not something that is easy to digest and it’s not expected to be easy to digest. But he has the unconditional support within the team, and I think from year to year it makes him more eager to win.”
“Winning against the best guy could probably be the biggest satisfaction that a racing driver could have. But that it takes its toll, is to be expected,” he said.
“All of us, I think it’s not only me, but he also has this unconditional support from everybody in the team,” Wolff said. “I think he’s able to pick himself up, and he has a family that does, and then he has his team-mates, all of us.”
Glad that Hamilton is back
Valtteri Bottas will finally be unified with his all-time partner Lewis Hamilton who was diagnosed with COVID-19 and for that Finnish is really glad that Hamilton managed to overcome the difficulty.
“It’s nice to see him healthy and back,” Bottas said of Hamilton’s return. “For sure you don’t wish anyone to have that virus. Apparently, it was not that mild, so it’s good to see him happy being back in the car.
“I’m just really focusing this weekend on my own work, mentally trying to be in a good place and take it to lap by lap. But so far, so good.”
