Tom Moody SRH: Former coach returns to Sunrisers Hyderabad as Director of Cricket
Tom Moody: The former Australian cricketer will has rejoined Sunrisers Hyderabad after a one-year break from his coaching role.
Former Australia all-rounder Tom Moody will once again be seen in Indian Premier League franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad’s jersey albeit in a different capacity.
Moody, 55, who had previously served as the head coach of Sunrisers from 2013 to 2019, will now play the role of Director of Cricket. Former Sri Lanka and England head coach Trevor Bayliss, who had replaced Moody as SRH’s head coach in IPL 2020, will continue in the same capacity.
The development further bolsters Hyderabad’s think-tank which also comprises of high-profile names such as former India batsman VVS Laxman (mentor), former Sri Lanka spinner Muttiah Muralitharan (bowling coach) and former Australia wicket-keeper batsman Brad Haddin (assistant coach).

Under Moody as the head coach, Hyderabad had reached the playoffs in five out of seven seasons and had went on to lift the title in 2016 under the captaincy of David Warner.
Having commenced the recently concluded on a mixed note, Warner and his men had done exceedingly well to reach the playoffs but failed to go past eventual runners-up Delhi Capitals in the second qualifier.

Moody, who had played eight Test matches and 76 ODIs during his international career between 1987-1999, was part of two (1987 and 1999) World Cup-winning Australian squads. Other than a seven year coaching stint at Sunrisers, Moody also has the experience of coaching Kings XI Punjab in the IPL and Sri Lanka at the highest level in addition to coaching domestic teams in both Australia and England.
