Chelsea target Seria A striker as Costa’s replacement

It would be fair to say that Chelsea are in a bad state at the start of the new season. Just a few months after winning the Premier League, the reigning champions look lost and disjointed, with their manager seemingly at war with the club’s top brass.

Antonio Conte has publicly said that he is unhappy with the way the club has handled its transfers this summer. Conte was not satisfied with the players that he brought in, nor was he happy with the sales that took place, most notably Nemanja Matic’s sale to Manchester United.

And they also had the worst possible start to the season, as they lost 3-2 to Burnley at home, after finishing the match with only nine men on the pitch. Now they face an impressive Spurs side without Cahil, Fabregas and Hazard this weekend.

The Diego Costa situation has not helped matters either. The striker was told to find a new club this summer, but unfortunately no such thing happened. Costa wants to go back to Atletico Madrid, but that would not happen until January.

Although Alvaro Morata is a good player, he will need some time in adjusting to a new league. That is why Conte is now targeting a move for Torino striker, Belotti.

The Italian striker has a release clause of 87.3 million pounds, which is something that Chelsea are well aware of. Could they be tempted in to triggering that clause and bringing him in to support Morata?

After scoring 26 goals in Seria A last season, Belotti is a man in demand. Chelsea will have to move fast in order to capture the striker, other wise another club will come in and they will rue this missed opportunity.
