David De Gea Replacement: Solskjaer eyes Sensational Young shot-stopper as De Gea's heir

Solskjaer is eyeing a deal for Ajax’s Andre Onana and wants him to replace David De Gea.

Manchester United are ready to make a move for Andre Onana if David De Gea does not sign a new contract. The Red Devils are aware of the interest from Jan Oblak, but the board believe that the Slovenian would be too expensive in the summer window.

According to the Independent, Andre Onana is Solskjaer’s number one target to replace David De Gea at Old Trafford. The Cameroonian International has a contract until 2022 with Ajax and the club value him at €40 million.

Onana is one of the young goalkeepers available in the market and Solskjaer is ready to take full use of this situation. The 23-year-old kept 26 clean sheets in 51 games in all competitions last season. He pivotal in their domestic success and came close to reaching the continental success until Lucas Moura scored a hat-trick in the second half.

At the other side, David De Gea has only one year left in his contract. Juventus and Paris Saint Germain have already made enquiries for the goalkeeper, but the club remains hopeful to keep their star beyond next year.

A report arose that Jan Oblak is reportedly keen on a move to Premier League and would fancy Manchester United, despite the absence of the Champions League. The Slovenian International is the holder of 120 million release clause, money which the Red Devils do not want to pay currently.

The club is looking to bring in upgrades for other positions, with goalkeeping not being one among them. For that sole reason, Onana is United’s number one target, albeit accessibility to Jasper Cillessen.

The Red Devils confirmed the signing of Daniel James from Swansea City for a fee of £15 million.
