“You respect that because they are very difficult to get” – Haas F1 principal Guenther Steiner wanted to avoid giving “stupid” parting gifts to Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean.

The Haas F1 team let go of Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean after four seasons with the American team. They are going to be replaced by Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin, subject to the latter not being kicked out due to a sexual assault storm on social media. 

Oh my days.

Romain Grosjean ended his journey with the team on a sad note after a massive accident in Bahrain. But boss Guenther Steiner wanted to ensure both drivers leave with a very special parting gift.

Grosjean and Magnussen gifted a steering wheel by Haas F1 boss

In came in the steering wheel, the stuff of marvel for anyone who follows Formula 1. Steiner also revealed, as per RaceFans.net that Magnussen had shown interest in getting one in the past, and he deservingly got it. The boss can now be sure that his gifts would not be found in the corner of their garages!

“I wanted to give them a present which is not cheap because they get a lot of presents and they put them somewhere in the garage and leave them there and then in five years’ time when they’re cleaning the garage, they throw them in the garbage, you know what normally happens with stupid presents.”

“So I know that when you get a steering wheel, you respect that because they are very difficult to get.”

“It was just organized at the last minute and with Kevin, it was strange that I think it was the first race in Bahrain, we just got chatting and he said ‘Guenther, I just would like one thing, you know’ and I said ‘what?’ ‘A steering wheel’”.
