Mitchell Marsh: The all-rounder from Perth Scorchers was part of an unbeaten match-winning partnership at the Adelaide Oval.

During the 21st match of the ongoing 13th season of the Big Bash League between Adelaide Strikers and Perth Scorchers in Adelaide, Perth Scorchers all-rounder Mitchell Marsh coped a nasty bouncer from Adelaide Strikers pacer Wes Agar on the helmet.

It all happened on the penultimate delivery of the 16th over when Marsh unsuccessfully pulled a pinpoint short delivery. With the ball hitting the top-edge of Marsh’s bat, it ended up hitting the grille of his helmet.

While a short delivery came after Marsh hit Agar for two consecutive boundaries, the right-hand batsman immediately gave thumbs up confirming not getting affected by the blow.

Chasing a mediocre 147-run target, wicket-keeper batsman Josh Inglis (44 not out) and Marsh (38 not out) put together an unbeaten 67-run match-winning partnership to seal the chase in the 18th over.

It was Scorchers opening batsman Jason Roy who gave a flying start to his team on the back of scoring 49 (32) with the help of seven fours and a six.

The ‘Man of the Match’ award, however, was bagged by fast bowler Jhye Richardson. Opening the bowling for Scorchers after captain Ashton Turned won the toss and chose to field, the 24-year old player registered bowling figures of 4-0-19-3.
