“Nikita knows he’s done wrong”- Gunther Steiner on his recent blog article
“Nikita knows he’s done wrong”- Gunther Steiner guarantees Nikita Mazepin won’t repeat his mistake, as he acknowledged his mistake.
Nikita Mazepin surrounded himself against major uprising from the fans even before his Formula 1 debut, as footage of him allegedly groping a woman outraged several individuals and organizations related to F1.
But Haas decided to stick with Mazepin, and to justify his team’s stance, the Team Principal of Haas has written a blog on the Race.com.
“He’s apologised, and he knows it was wrong, and now we need to work on it to give him the best opportunity to learn from this, concentrate on his racing and ensure he doesn’t do it anymore.”
“He knows that. He realises that what was done wasn’t right.” Steiner further emphasised that Mazepin is a young man, and the team will educate him instead of letting this incident slip past them.
“This is a young man who needs to grow up, and for sure we have dealt with this, and we will continue to deal with this. We are not saying that this was OK and letting him get away with it. We are educating him and will keep on educating him for his future.”
Will be stringent consequences next time.
Even though Mazepin has been given clearance by Haas over the incident, Steiner has said that another incident like this will not be tolerated in future.
There will be consequences if this or something similar happens again. We have put things in place to help him get better and make sure this doesn’t happen again; not to make the same mistake again, because this was a clear mistake.
And he took responsibility, which for me was very important. I always say if you know what you did wrong, you can do better. If you are in denial, then it doesn’t work.
