“The car looks very agile”- Toto Wolff advice Formula 1 to explore the attractiveness of the old agile cars with screaming V8 engines.

Even today there is a massive nostalgia for the old V8 engines, which used to pierce the ears of viewers on the stands. The current V6 engines don’t seem to be as charming as their predecessors.

Moreover, the smaller cars appeared to be more swift, maybe because of primitive camera technology with lesser frames per seconds, or maybe because of their size, they tend to look attractive than the current lengthy cars of today.

Toto Wolff seems to the think of the latter and asks for the return of those memorable days, as he thinks that those small cars looked agile and the additional screaming engines clearly made the sight better.

“The car looks very agile,” he explained as per the Autosport. “I mean, first of all, the car screams like these old V10 engines used to scream. It seems agile. The car is much smaller, the car is 150kg lighter and seems to be moving faster.

“I don’t know if it is the size or simply the agility of the car, so it is something which we need to explore but I haven’t got an answer.” he further added.

Carlos Sainz also during the middle of the last season asked fans a question on why the cars from the previous generation looked faster, even though the opposite was the truth.

And his followers online schooled him about the evolvement of cameras, and live telecast.

Amidst the pandemic, FIA has imposed significant freezes and cost-cutting measures, they even told teams to cut down on the downforce by 10%, with only a limited room of development, Wolff feels things will be slower this year.

“The aero was cut back considerably on the floor and it is going to take a while to catch up,” he added. “I doubt that we will be there quickly. In that respect, I don’t think, with the tyres much harder, we will be near the lap times from this year. At least not in the first half of the year.”
