“Hate is going to be part of America”: Lakers’ LeBron James pays emotional tribute to Martin Luther King ahead of MLK Day
LeBron James wishes Martin Luther King Jr. a happy birthday. He says his legacy still lives on, with NBA players voicing his words to this day.
LeBron James is an individual who prides himself on being actively involved in all things ‘woke’ that happen in the United States. He was one of the most powerful voices the NBA had to offer during the racial turmoil that consumed the US in 2020.
He has shown that he is a major advocate of the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement. On several occasions, LeBron James has voiced his opinion on what he makes of racially charged crimes that happen within the States, denouncing them countless number of times.
Recently, when the State ruled that there wouldn’t be a considerable punishment given to the cops who shot Breonna Taylor, LeBron James took to social media to express his outrage.

Following the Lakers’ victory over the Pelicans, LeBron James spoke about Martin Luther King Jr. LeBron said:
“His name and his words and his legacy still live on. He’s shining his light on us every day. As NBA players we continue to voice what he was talking about. We continue to move forward. As someone who has platform like I do, I will continue to live by a lot of his messages.”

Martin Luther King Day or MLK day is observed throughout the United States as the day that commemorates Dr. King’s impact on the country and what he did to bring people of all races together.
With the NBA comprising of a majority of African-American players, it is understandable that MLK day is a means for celebration for them and the entirety of the United States.
