Frank Lampard Replacement : The previous PSG man is said to be leading the pile of names shortlisted to replaced Lampard 

For Frank Lampard, things at Chelsea are looking extremely bleak and gloomy. Slumping to yet another laggard and listless defeat against Leicester City, it now looks like a matter of time before Lampard is asked to pack his bags up at the club.

And as per reports emanating, Chelsea have already gotten down to opening negotiations with his potential replacement. As per Jan Aage Fjortoft, the club has begun talks with Thomas Tuchel, a manager the club is extremely eager to land.

Chelsea Initiate Contact With Tuchel

Jan Aage Fjortoft provided an update on Twitter: Re: Tuchel Agents and Chelsea – representatives have been talking about bringing Tuchel in. I understand no decision has been made in terms of Lampard yet, but if he goes Tuchel is seen as the best replacement In the middle of the season.

Tuchel was previously removed as PSG’s manager midway into the Ligue 1 season despite having won them the title in the foregone season. The German manager was earlier offered to Chelsea as well but the London based side had refused to indulge in his services with Tuchel’s attitude said to be problematic.

Meanwhile, Lampard himself seemed resigned to the fact that his time was running out at Chelsea. Asked about his role as the club’s manager ensuing his side’s 2-0 defeat on Wednesday, a downtrodden Lampard said he couldn’t control what happened next.

“I can’t control it. I don’t think this is the first time I have been asked this, I have been asked this across the last few weeks. We went 16 unbeaten, then lost two on the bounce, and I started to be asked about it,” Lampard said.

“I understand it, the expectations of this club whether I think it is right or wrong, we are not in the position as Chelsea Football Club as we were in the periods when we were winning leagues.

The squad consistency is not the same, the level, the robustness of players who’ve won leagues is not the same. The ability of players that can get you results, at the top end of the pitch in a tight game, is not quite there. It is a developing team.

I can’t get caught up in what the reaction will be or I will be sitting there all day concerned about it.

I took this job knowing there would be difficult times because it is not a club ready to compete.”
