Arsenal Vs Chelsea: Reason for Frank Lampard dropping Christian Pulisic as the Blues faced the city rivals Arsenal in the game-week 20.

Christian Pulisic’s time in the Premier League has not been smooth but the player certainly has shown his capability, which made him a star among the fans instantly.

Ahead of the match against Arsenal, Chelsea fans were surprised to not see Pulisic in the lineup released by the West London club, but leaving away the lineup, he was not even in the squad. The USA International has 5 goals and 2 assists in 15 matches he has played in the Premier League.

Thus, many questioned Lampard for surprisingly excluding Pulisic especially after the results from the last game-week. Although, it has been reported by various outlets that there was a good reason behind dropping Pulisic from the squad.

According to Nizaar Kinsella from the Goal and Simon Johnson from the Athletic, Pulisic has picked a hamstring injury during the game against Southampton in the last game-week.

In today’s lineup, even Callum Hudson Odoi was not included and Mason Mount and Willian were deployed on the flans ahead, supported by Cesar Azpilicueta and Emerson as wingbacks.

However, as much Chelsea fans wanted Pulisic in the lineup, he was surely being missed for his blistering pace and ability to cut spaces through his dribble.

Arsenal got the breakthrough in the game after Pierre Emrick Aubameyang scored to fetch the first goal of the game. In the second half, Jorginho equalized the score but worst happened when Tammy Abraham scored the 2nd goal for Chelsea.

It could have been a great win for the Gunners and could have lifted Arsenal’s morale seeing the recent events at the North London club. But Lampard’s men overturned the game within the few minutes.
