WATCH: Rohan Bopanna hits the shot of the year in the Davis Cup tie against Canada
When India were drawn against Canada in the Davis Cup, not many would have given India even a whiff, and while they came close, they were just not good enough to beat Canada over 5 matches, losing the tie 3-2.
The doubles fixture was one that was always going to be the deciding one for India, as India has historically been good at doubles, but the absence of Leander Paes proved to be costly, as the pair of Rohan Bopanna and Purav Raja could not overcome the stiff challenge put up by Vasek Pospisil and Daniel Nestor.
The Indian pair lost the match in 4 sets and while there were bouts of brilliance, they never really looked like taking the game away from Pospisil and Nestor.
One of those moments of brilliance came in the 1st set when Bopanna lobbed Nestor with an overhead shot, facing the other side.
Nestor was pushed back by a brilliant groundstroke but managed to produce a brilliant lob that forced Bopanna to scamper back and produce one of the best shots of the tie(and maybe the year?)
