“Just gossip”- Gucci boss dismisses taking Ferrari CEO job rumours
“Just gossip”- Gucci President and CEO Marco Bizzarri dismiss rumours of replacing former Ferrari CEO Louis Camilleri.
Former Ferrari CEO Louis Camilleri resigned from his position in 2020 with chairman John Elkann taking over the role on the interim basis until they find a suitable replacement.
A few days ago, it was reported that the current Gucci President and CEO Marco Bizzarri could be taking over the job role this year. However, the Italian has dismissed the claims.
“For those who, like me, were born and still live near Maranello, Ferrari is a mythical brand. But I’m already at the helm of an Italian legend, Gucci, which this year celebrates its centenary with its next 100 years ahead of it,” Bizzarri told WWD.
“It makes me smile to read headlines like ‘Bizzarri at the wheel of Ferrari’, but if anything they make me regret not having pursued a career as a racing driver! The rest is just gossip.”
Ferrari needs to start with humility- Eklann
Ferrari had a disastrous campaign in 2020, with the most decorated team in the history of F1 finished P6 on the constructors’ championship table. But in 2021, Ferrari is mapping its rejuvenation, and Eklann feels that Ferrari needs to have humility before eyeing for success.
“A great past does not necessarily mean a great present and a great future. As quoted by Gazzetta Dello Sport, we have to start over with humility,” he said during a conference call about the company’s financial accounts.
“We are not satisfied with our current results in Formula 1, and we will work with humility and dedication to change them,” he concluded. Ferrari is starting a new chapter in F1 with Carlos Sainz joining the camp in 2021.
The Spaniard along with Charles Leclerc account Ferrari’s youngest lineup in four decades. Thus, Ferrari has signalled that it is rooting for a long term vision amidst their revival.
