D Sibley cricket dismissal: Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill combine to dismiss Dom Sibley in bizarre way
D Sibley cricket dismissal: The English batsman was significantly unfortunate to get out in the manner he did at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
During the third day of the fourth Test of the ongoing England’s tour of India in Ahmedabad, England batsman Dom Sibley registered a bizarre dismissal to add to England’s woes.
It all happened on the last delivery of the 10th over when Sibley nailed a sweep off India all-rounder Axar Patel but less did he know that a well-timed shot would result in his downfall.
Having failed to keep the ball on the ground, Sibley hit the ball straight to Shubman Gill at short leg. Preventing himself from getting hit, Gill jumped in the air only to see the ball lob off his shin pad towards the India wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant, who completed a straightforward catch.
Opening the batting with Zac Crawley (5), Sibley walked back to the pavilion for the last time in the series after scoring 3 (21). It is worth mentioning that Sibley wasn’t the only unlucky batsman today as India all-rounder Washington Sundar had earlier narrowly missed his maiden Test century for no fault of his.
Chasing India’s first-innings lead of 160 runs, the visitors have put on display a shambolic start after getting reduced to 30/4 in the 14th over. Given how they have batted so far in this innings, it wouldn’t be a surprise if India bundle out England before stumps at the Narendra Modi Stadium today.

When things go wrong, they go completely haywire 🤷🏽♂️
Dom Sibley has swept an Axar Patel ball straight to Short Leg, which has then popped up to Rishabh Pant for the easiest catch he’ll ever take 🙌🏼#TeamIndia will take it.
