“Daniel Andre Green did not shoot Michael Jordan’s father”: New documentary on James Jordan’s death reveals marred investigations and possible foul play

Daniel Andre Green, the prime accused in James Jordan homicide, is the subject of a documentary series ‘Moment of Truth’.

This 5-part series takes a deep dive into the alleged irregularities in the murder investigation. Green and his best friend Larry Demery were both convicted in these murders. Demery was released on parole in August 2020 after serving out the period on his plea deal.

The case took a serious turn when Demery turned on Green and testified that the latter had shot Michael Jordan. This docu-series reveals that the prosecution disregarded crucial pieces of evidence which could have proved Green’s innocence.

New evidence may exonerate Daniel Andre Green in the murder of Michael Jordan’s father

Dr. Joel Sexton performed the autopsy for the body that was recovered weeks after the date of the murder. Dr. Sexton determined that Jordan died of a shotgun wound to the right side of his chest but could not find corresponding holes in that same area of the shirt.

Christine Mumma is the executive director of the North Carolina Center on Actual Innocence. She talks about the autopsy and subsequent testimony at length in one particular clip. Mumma suggests that the problem wasn’t just the autopsy itself but the testimony that came afterward:

‘It’s not just a matter of maybe he didn’t look for it and missed it. He’s looking for the hole and he has identified other holes. He specifically is making note that there is no hole in the shirt [which would align with the wounds],’ Mumma said in the clip.

‘When the shirt is presented to the jury, there is a hole in the chest that corresponds with the wound in the body. And not only is there a hole in the shirt, there is testimony that there is gun shot residue.’

Mumma suggests that testimony about the gun shot residue seems suspicious because ‘the body was in the water for almost two weeks’ and that it would have likely washed away.

Green is still fighting what is likely a losing battle with the judiciary to prove his innocence. But there will always be questions about his conviction from here on.
