Sri Lanka charity match 2021: When and where will Sri Lanka vs Sri Lanka Legends charity match be played?
Sri Lanka charity match 2021: The current Sri Lankan players will take on former Sri Lankan players in a charity match next month.
Current Sri Lankan players will be seen locking horns with former Sri Lankan players, some of them with their former teammates as well, in a charity match on May 4 in Pallekele.
The idea is a brainchild of Sri Lanka Cricket’s newly-appointed management committee as it will be overseeing the organisational aspects of the match.
“The whole country enjoyed watching cricket and watching these players playing again. At the same time we have not seen a live match for more than a year,” Chairman of the SLC management committee Arjuna de Silva was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

While the charity match is all set to be televised, it remains unclear if spectators would be allowed entry inside the stadium. If it happens, it will be the first time that Sri Lankan fans will get to watch live cricket from the stadium since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“From a spectators point of view it’ll be an exciting match, and from the current players’ point of view it will be a good experience, especially because many of them would love to play alongside their childhood heroes,” he added. “Some of the youngsters might also get an opportunity to play as well,” de Silva added.
Furthermore, what also remains unclear at this point in time is the availability of high-profile former players. The same is likely to be made public in due course of time. It is worth mentioning that a Sri Lanka Legends team led by Tillakaratne Dilshan had emerged as the runners-up of the recently concluded Road Safety World Series in Raipur.

With the second Test of Bangladesh’s tour of Sri Lanka scheduled for a May 3 finish at the same venue, one can’t rule out the possibility of a few current multi-format players taking part in this T20 match.
