Amit Mishra not playing: The veteran spinner from Delhi Capitals has been left out of their Playing XI for tonight’s match.

During the 25th match of the ongoing 14th season of the Indian Premier League between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders in Ahmedabad, Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant has won the toss and chose to field.

“We will bowl first. There might be dew but the wicket still looks dry. So, we want to make use of it with the ball. You can only take the positives from such a loss [against Royal Challengers Bangalore],” Pant told Star Sports at the toss.

Much like Pant, Kolkata Knight Riders captain Eoin Morgan also wanted to field first. Admitting that he himself hasn’t been in the best of form, Morgan hoped for contributions throughout the tournament.

“Would have liked to chase, been the trend in T20 cricket but ultimately we need to play good cricket. The bowlers were accurate and got a lot more than previous games. I have struggled for form as well. Was nice to get some runs, albeit a small contribution. Hopefully I can continue through the tournament,” Morgan told Star Sports at the toss.

As far as changes made to their Playing XI are concerned, Pant announced that they’ve included all-rounder Lalit Yadav for veteran spinner Amit Mishra. Having made his IPL debut this season itself, Yadav is playing his fourth match tonight.

“One change. Mishy [Amit Mishra] had some shoulder injury, so Lalit [Yadav] comes in,” Pant said while talking about their only change. Having picked six wickets in four matches at an average of 18.16, an economy rate of 7.78 and a strike rate of 14, Mishra is Capitals’ second-highest wicket-taker this season as of now.

As far as Kolkata are concerned, they will be taking the field with the same Playing XI at the Narendra Modi Stadium tonight. “No changes for us. Looks like our strongest XI on paper. Another opportunity for us to build confidence and bring our best,” Morgan said.
