“Russell Westbrook, now THAT’s what I was looking for”: Stephen A Smith praise Wizards MVP for bringing them back to winning ways

ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith finally commends Russell Westbrook and the Washington Wizards’ recent hot streak. 

Russell Westbrook is back, and he is back with a vengeance. The former MVP is arguably having his best post-All-Star break season yet. The Brodie is breaking records almost every week and has even equaled Oscar Robertson’s all-time triple-double record.

After what was a slow start to the season, Russell Westbrook is finally showing to the world why he deserves to be ranked amongst the best in NBA history.

Initially though, when Russ’s hot streak had just begun, the Wizards were still on the losing side of games. And Stephen A. Smith was sure to remind the player of just that, something the analyst received a lot of flak for, at the time.

However, things have changed since then. And as Smith’s recent tweet indicates, so has his tune it seems. Let’s get into it.

To put into context how great Westbrook has been since the All-Star break, here are some numbers. He has 435 assists since the break, which is the highest in the NBA, in that time this season.

The runner up to that is Chris Paul, who has 285. To add onto that, the Brodie also leads the league rebounds during this period, and the franchise has won 7 of its last 10 games.

Recognizing this, Stephen A. Smith put out a tweet backing Russell Westbrook.

After being one of the only analysts in the NBA community to criticize Westbrook lately, it is nice to see the player get the respect he deserves from Smith as well.

Looking forward though, the Brodie’s postseason record is a bit iffy. So, it will be interesting to see if the player can continue his incredible form when it matters most for the franchise.
