“There’s a good dynamic between Lance and Sebastian” – Aston Martin embracing positive changes brought in by Vettel
“There’s a good dynamic between Lance and Sebastian” – Debriefings with the detail-oriented Sebastian Vettel go on for a couple of hours, and Aston Martin is embracing it.
Anecdotes of how meticulous Sebastian Vettel is has already been shared by his former Red Bull boss Christian Horner. The four-time world champion has made a reputation for himself for conducting lengthy post-race briefings compared to the swift ones by his then-teammate Mark Webber.
“Debriefings with Sebastian lasted about two hours. After half an hour he had just discussed the introductory round and how he had tried his water bottle. He described every phase of the race in detail, including every phase of the tire. There was more information than we could take in.
“It only took him (Webber) about a quarter of an hour for a full race.”

Sebastian Vettel and his positive influence on Aston Martin
Otmar Szafnauer, the Aston Martin team principal, seconded Horner’s views on Vettel’s detail orientation. He has hailed the German’s entry into the team, and his positive influence on the entire team. He has also stepped up his performance, with a P5 finish at Monaco and a podium at Baku.
“Sebastian has expanded our approach. We have all improved our approach to a weekend.
“Lance isn’t a rookie, he’s been with us for a while now and there’s a good dynamic between Lance and Sebastian. Sebastian does have more experience and the way we go about debriefs now has changed a bit. Not just Lance but the entire team have embraced that.”
