“Scottie Pippen is burning every bridge”: Charles Barkley reveals his chagrin at Bulls legend’s deprecating comments about Michael Jordan and Phil Jackson

Scottie Pippen has made some questionable comments regarding Phil Jackson and Michael Jordan of late, and Charles Barkley ain’t enamoured.

There’s no doubt that Charles Barkley and Scottie Pippen were 2 of the best basketball players of the 90s. The two teamed up together on the Dream Team – both looked like the best players on the team at various points.

However, their relationship soured after an unsuccessful union with Hakeem Olajuwon for one season in Houston. Barkley accused Scottie of giving up on the team, while Pippen didn’t like Chuck’s work ethic.

Both of them have traded blows with each other regarding their time in Houston in the years since. We can be quite sure that there is still no love lost between the two Hall of Famers.

Charles Barkley calls out Scottie Pippen for beefing with Michael Jordan, Phil Jackson and himself

Pippen is reeling from the loss of a son in the recent past. He’s also on a promo tour for his new brand of bourbon, called Digits. The combination of these two brought out some bitterness from his past life.

Scottie went on the Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz for one of his promo interviews. One of his other interviews on this tour, which also included one with GQ magazine, was with Dan Patrick.

Pippen made a number of shocking statements in that Dan Patrick interview. He called MJ’s decision to step away from basketball in 1993 a selfish one. He also said Phil Jackson’s decision to draw a play for Toni Kukoc instead of him was born of racism.

Charles Barkley, coincidentally or otherwise, is the very next interview guest on Patrick’s show. He made no bones of the fact that Scottie is literally burning his bridges with his friends from the past:

“I’m disappointed in Scottie because he’s burning every bridge. I know he has a book coming out. He’s taking shots at Michael, Phil & myself. I’m just laughing because I’m like ‘Man, we’re 60 years old, we don’t have beefs anymore.’ I think it’s silly and stupid.”

It remains to be seen how Scottie reacts to this piece of sobering advice from his former teammate.
