WATCH : Virat Kohli scores and celebrates his 50th international hundred
Walking in to open India’s second innings, Rahul and Dhawan knew that they had to build a strong platform or else face the prospect of losing this match.
Fortunately for India, the pair delivered as they put on a 166 run opening partnership. Dhawan was dismissed last night but Pujara and Rahul ensured that no other wickets fell yesterday.
Today though was the Virat Kohli show, as the Indian skipper scored his 18th test century and 50th international century. The champion batsman was in full flow and hit a six to reach the landmark figure.
Kohli declared immediately and left a target of 231 runs for the Lankans to chase down.
It was one of his better hundreds his year as Kohli held the side together when it looked like India could collapse in a heap. But let’s see if this is enough to win the match!
