“Just Enjoy the process”: LeBron James gives his nephew Ziaire Williams some important advice about NBA life after the Grizzlies drafted him
LeBron James gives his nephew Ziaire Williams some advice after getting drafted in the lottery by the Memphis Grizzlies
At 36-years-old, LeBron James has been through it all, with regards to the NBA. He has seen the media love him, he has seen it hate him. He has seen the highs and lows of life in the league, and its prizes and consequences as well. Simply put, at this point, he is a master of this whole process.
The Lakers star has always been one of those people that loves to welcome the next generation. He has spoken highly about younger athletes on multiple occasions, with Lonzo Ball and LaMelo Ball being just two examples of that. And now, it seems we have yet another player to add to that list.
In the 2021 NBA Draft, the Memphis Grizzlies selected the King’s nephew, Ziaire Williams, with the New Orleans Pelicans’ pick, at 10th overall. And just a little bit late, LeBron James gave the rookie some short, but valuable advice.
Let’s get into it.
“Enjoy the process”: LeBron James gives some advice to Grizzlies rookie Ziaire Williams
Being an NBA player without the fans’ expectations being too high is hard enough. But, with a lottery pick, there are tons of expectations that a first-year player needs to live up to. They don’t do that, and the NBA community starts to show him their cruelest side.
We’d totally understand it if Ziaire Williams and many others in his fellow draft class were terrified of those massive expectations right now. But, here is perhaps where LeBron James’s message comes the most handy. Here is what the King said.
“Enjoy the process, and everything that comes with it.”
Short, sweet, and perfect.

LeBron has been following Williams for a long time. His son Bronny and Dwyane Wade’s son Zaire, and Ziaire were all teammates at Sierra Canyon. The now Grizzlies’ rookie is a couple of years older than them is all.
This helped Ziaire foster a close relationship with the Lakers star and the Heat legend. And we’re sure that as his NBA career progresses, he will be getting tons of valuable advice the both of them.
