Jofra Archer Ashes 2021-22: Will Jofra Archer take part in ICC T20 World Cup 2021?
Jofra Archer Injury Update: The English fast bowler has been ruled out of all competitive cricket slated to be played this year.
ECB (England Cricket Board) have confirmed that fast bowler Jofra Archer has been ruled out of action till the end of this year after suffering a recurrence of a stress fracture of his right elbow.
Archer, who has frequently missed international cricket since the start of 2020 for facing trouble in his right elbow, had to undergo a surgery in May this year. Having injured his elbow yet again in Sussex vs Kent County Championship 2021 match, a surgery was the need of the hour for Archer.
Will Jofra Archer take part in ICC T20 World Cup 2021?
Archer, who had written about the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 and Ashes 2021-22 as his primary focus, will now have to miss both premier tournaments after being ruled out of competitive cricket slated to be played this year.
“The operation is not related to the stress fracture that sidelined the player previously. He will now spend time on an extended break from cricket before returning for a medical review in early autumn,” ECB said in a statement.
It was in May only that England coach Chris Silverwood had hoped for a “fully fit” Archer firing in all formats especially in the second half of 2021. According to the latest development, it goes without saying that Archer will miss the second leg of the 14th season of the Indian Premier League as well.
Got to feel for Jofra Archer. A career full of highs, so rich with possibility and now these big interruptions. Hopefully he returns stronger after this elbow injury

While England are likely to manage without Archer in the T20 World Cup in the UAE, they will certainly feel his absence on the tour of Australia. Known for bowling at express pace, Archer’s availability down under would have been a massive boost towards England’s chances of regaining the urn.
