Ahead of India’s home assignment against Sri Lanka, there was an opening selection dilemma and a tough equation for the Indian selectors to decode the best opening pair in the playing XI. Murali Vijay was asked to warm the bench in the opening Eden Gardens Test.

Little did the onlookers know that the classy and elegant Murali Vijay would score back-to-back Test centuries against Sri Lanka in the Nagpur and Feroz Shah Kotla Test. It was just a strong statement by him to prove that he is the best in the opening slot.

Just like Nagpur Test, Vijay capped off his innings at a sedate pace and converted the patience and perseverance into building a very good score. He brought up his 11th Test century and the selectors will have no more confusions in picking Vijay and Dhawan for South Africa tour as they both opened for India today.
