WATCH: MS Dhoni sets the field during Kuldeep’s final over
MS Dhoni had one of those perfect days on the field for India today, playing a busy innings after coming in at number 4 and then hitting that wonderful last ball six to top off a wonderful outing for the Indian batting unit in Cuttack.
KL Rahul enjoyed the perfect comeback to the Indian T20 setup, playing a blistering knock of 50 upfront to set the platform for Dhoni and co. to unleash from in the death overs.
India posted a challenging 181 on board on a track that seemed to very flat, and with dew set to come in during the 2nd innings, it felt as if we could be in for a tight chase.
But a masterclass in leg spin bowling, presented by Yuzi Chahal, meant that Sri Lanka just couldn’t find their feet in the game, and ended up succumbing big time to an overall superior Indian side.
The wrist spinners were expected to suffer because of the dew, but Chahal and Kuldeep ended up excelling in dire circumstances, breaking the back of the Sri Lankan middle order to hand India the 1st T20 game.
During Kuldeep’s last over, Rohit and Dhoni opted for two slips and a leg slip, but the young man wanted the second slip to go to somewhere on the 30 yard circle, but Dhoni urged him to stick to the field and get on with his bowling. The 19 year old chinaman had no option but to get on with the game.
MS Dhoni has been really pro active in setting fields, especially after having given up captaincy last year.
