Bottas explains how he should deal with Hamilton this season
Valtteri Bottas is still learning how to deal with Lewis Hamilton(his teammate) and his ability as an F1 driver.
Being on the same team as one of the best drivers on the circuit has apparently affected Bottas’ way of looking at things.
Bottas now feels that he shouldn’t be beating himself up on days when Hamilton is quicker than him on track and needs to concentrate on his own strengths going into the 2018 F1 season.
“Lewis is a great driver and I should never get upset if he is quicker than me at times,” said Bottas
“Then I just need to accept it and learn from those.
“For sure I was beating myself up a lot last year when I was struggling but that’s all part of the learning process.” he added.
Bottas takes heart from the fact that Nico Rosberg’s win over Hamilton in 2016 after having been in his shadow for 3 long years.
He believes that his work ethic has been good enough to give Hamilton a run for his money and genuinely believes that 2018 could be his ‘Rosberg moment’.
“Instead of that I’m going to focus on my own performance on the track and being quick on track in qualifying and races. I’m focusing all of the energy on that.
“For sure Nico worked very hard, it took three years for him to beat Lewis but he did it and showed it’s possible by working hard. That’s why I believe it’s possible.” he concluded.
Bottas has looked solid in testing but do you think Bottas can pull off a Rosberg this season?
